The highly anticipated 2024–25 CAF Interclub season will commence this weekend, marking the start of the quest for continental glory with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The CAF Confederation Cup and the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League preliminary rounds will kick off the campaign.
The return legs are slated for August 23–25, 2024, with the First Preliminary Round First Leg matches taking place between August 16 and 18.
The next round is the Second Preliminary Round, which will take place from September 13 to 15, 2024, with the first-leg matches and the return legs used to determine the Group Stage draw on September 20 and 22, 2024.
Due to their high rankings, elite teams like Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), and Al Ahly SC (Egypt) have been excluded from the First Preliminary Round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. Similar to this, the first round is free for 12 of the top-ranked teams, including Zamalek SC, the current TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup winners.
African football fans can anticipate exciting matches as clubs from all across the continent compete to go on to the second round and ultimately gain a berth in the Group rounds of their individual championships, even if these are merely the preliminary rounds of the competition.
The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League has several notable matches. Young Africans, the current Tanzanian champions, will be visiting Vital’O FC of Burundi. After an incredible season, Pyramids FC of Egypt will play JKU SC of Zanzibar, while Orlando Pirates FC, the defending champions, will play Disciples FC of Madagascar.
An exciting matchup between Zimbabwe’s Dynamos FC and Zambia’s Zesco United is scheduled for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. RS Abidjan from Côte d’Ivoire will be hosted by UTS in Morocco, and TP Elect Sport from the Republic of Chad will be welcomed by Nsoatreman FC in Ghana.
